About the projects
In these two projects, the objective was to create 1) a line drawing of a machine and turn it into a monotone icon, 2) a photo-realistic vector illustration of a building. The illustrations are based on photographic images and created in Illustrator.
How
First, I looked at the sourced images and considered how I would break down the objects.
For the line drawing, I used the pen tool and refined all strokes to achieve the suitable form and used different line weight to make the illustration appear more dynamic. I used one colour to create the icon.
For the photo-realistic illustration my focus was to capture the original look of the house. I did this by matching the colours of the house, applying patterns, e.g. roof and wooden walls, reflecting the shadows on the house. I also used gradients to make it all look more realistic.
